AgraQuant® Peanut

The AgraQuant® Peanut Allergen Kit is an ELISA system for the quantitation of peanut residue in a variety of food products and environmental surfaces.

The peanut (Arachis hypogaea) is a member of the legume or ‘bean’ family (other members include beans, peas and soybeans). It is important to note that the Peanut is not a tree nut. Peanuts are also known by other names such as earthnuts, ground nuts, goober peas, monkey nuts, pygmy nuts and pig nuts.

Peanuts are a rich source of nutrients and are used widely throughout industry as an ingredient many food products. Peanut allergy is one of the most common food allergies causing mild skin rashes to anaphylaxis. As the only cure for this allergen is an exclusion diet of whole peanuts, peanut particles and oils, it is important that food manufacturers and laboratories label their products accurately.

The AgraQuant® Peanut is a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative testing of peanut residue by food laboratories. The kit is supplied with 5 standards, antibody coated microwells, extraction buffer, wash buffer, conjugate, substrate and stop solution.
