Folic acid is an important factor in food and also an important feed additive. It belongs to the water soluble vitamins and has an essential role in the biosynthesis of nucleic acids. Deficiencies in folic acid mainly influence cell division and lead to reduced growth rates, disorders in reproduction and to gastrointestinal symptoms. Adults need a daily folic acid uptake of about 200 µg. For pregnant or nursing women a daily uptake of 350 - 450 µg is recommended. Using the RIDASCREEN®FAST Folsäure assay, it is possible to detect folic acid in vitamin enriched grain, flour and feed rapidly and with accuracy. Microtiterplate format: 48 well Detection limit: depending on the sample >= 10 µg/kg (ppb) Incubation time: 25 min Sample preparation: homogenization, boiling, zentrifugation (filtration) Cross reaction: Folic acid 100 %Dihydrofolic acid 25 %Tetrahydrofolic acid 15.2 %5-Methyltetrahydrofolic acid 5 %5-Formyltetrahydrofolic acid 0 % Samples per kit: up to 42 Standards: 0 / 1 / 2 / 5 / 10 / 25 ppb Measurement: microtiter plate reader (450 nm) |
