Aflatoxin B1

Aflatoxins are naturally occurring mycotoxins produced by two strains of moulds: Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus.

Aflatoxin B1, which is generally present together with aflatoxin B2, G1 and G2, can be detected in cereals, corn, cottonseed and some nuts. These toxins are usually formed together in various foods and feeds in various proportions; however, aflatoxin B1 is the predominant and is the most toxic. Due to their high carcinogenic and high toxic properties these toxins pose a substantial health risk to humans and animals alike.

Using the RIDASCREEN® Aflatoxin B1 assay, it is possible to detect this mycotoxin in cereals, feed, nuts, dried fruits and other foods both rapidly and with accuracy.

Format: 96 well microtitreplate

shaking/centrifugation; evaporation/reconstitution;
centrifugation/dilution

Recovery rate: cereals/feed approx. 56 %

Cross reaction:
Aflatoxin B1 100.0 %
Aflatoxin G1 1.1 %
Aflatoxin B2 0.2 %
Aflatoxin G2, M1, M2 0.1 %

Samples per kit: up to 42 in duplicate
