Aflatoxin Total

Aflatoxins are naturally occurring mycotoxins produced by two strains of moulds: Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus.

The most pronounced contamination has been encountered in tree nuts, peanuts and other oilseed, including corn and cottonseed. The major aflatoxins of concern are designated B1, B2, G1 and G2. These toxins are usually formed together in various foods and feeds in various proportions; however, aflatoxin B1 is the predominant and is the most toxic. Due to their high carcinogenic and immunosuppressive properties these toxins pose a substantial health risk to humans and animals alike.

Using the RIDASCREEN® Aflatoxin Total assay, it is possible to detect aflatoxins in cereals and feed both rapidly and with accuracy.

Format: 96 well microtitreplate

Detection limit: 1.75 µg/kg (ppb)

Time requirement: incubation time 1 hour (regardless of the number of samples)

Sample preparation: Grind, shake and filter.

Recovery rate: Cereals 85% ± 15%

Cross reaction:
Aflatoxin B1 100 %
Aflatoxin B2 200 %
Aflatoxin G1 15 %
Aflatoxin G2 16 %
Aflatoxin M1 63 %

Samples per kit: up to 42 in duplicate

Standards: 0 /0.5 / 1.5 / 4.5 / 13.5 / 40.5 ppb

Measurement: microtiter plate reader (450 nm)

For RIDASCREEN® Aflatoxin B1, Aflatoxin Total, Ochratoxin A, Zearalenon and DON, a common sample preparation method for cereals and grain is available on request.
