Solar-Cult® Enviro Swab |

Designed for environmental surface sampling of work areas, equipment, animal carcasses ( as per USDA MegaRegs), and any other place where testing for Listeria, Salmonella, E.coli and other foodborne pathogens is required. The special sponge is free of bactericides and has been tested to be non-inhibitory. The cellulose sponge was selected for Solar-Cult on the basis of an exhaustive study carried out by E.F. Daly, F. Pagotto and J.M. Farber at the Banting Research Center of Health Canada. These researchers observed that the cellulose sponge was the best sampling material available in terms of non-inhibitory effects on food-borne pathogens. To ensure continuation of this property, our rigorous quality control program requires testing to conform that each lot of cellulose sponges used in theproduction is non-inhibitory to food-borne pathogens. It measures approximately 3.8cm x 7.6cm x 1.6cm thick when wet. It is sterilised inside a plastic bag. It is recommended to wear sterile gloves when wiping with the sponge. This will help prevent contaminants from being introduced to the sponge. After the sample has been collected and the sponge returned to the bag, media may be added, and the sample incubated inside the bag for a +/- test, or directly pipetted and plated out on say a 3M™ Petrifilm™ ready to use microbiological media plate. |
